Billiards Long-up format – Doyle Vs Drennan
The National Billiards Long-up Championships, preliminary rounds down to the last two, took place at the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Sunday, 16th April 2017. A total of 8 players contested the event, which meant effectively that only two rounds were played, the quarter finals and the semis.
Billiards Short format – Drennan V Murray
The National Billiards Championships, preliminary rounds down to the last two, took place at Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday, 26th March 2017. A total of 10 players contested the event, which meant that the top four seeded players were awarded byes into the quarter finals.
Intermediate 150up Final – Bateman V Kehoe
James Bateman, Kilkenny and John Kehoe, Enniscorthy will contest the final of the Intermediate Billiards 150up Championship in May Weekend 5th – 7th May after the qualifying championship was played in the Ivy Rooms SC on Sunday the 12th of March.
N Ireland win North v South Billiards
The annual Billiards International North-South Challenge Tournament took place at the Premier Snooker Club, Glengormley on Saturday and Sunday, 22nd and 23rd April 2017. The format of the event was that each team of eight was divided into two groups of four, so that each player met four opponents from his corresponding group, with the consequence that all benefited from the variety of games the format provided.

The 2017 Annual North-South Billiards Challenge will take place at Glengormley Northern Ireland on Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd of April.

The sixth tournament of the Senior Billiards series was played at the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club, Carlow on Sunday, 26th of February 2017, the format being 90 minutes timed (all rounds). Doyle wins Senior Billiards 5
The fifth tournament of the Senior Billiards series was played at Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday, 5th of February 2017, the format being 400up with a 90 minute time limit. Wayne Doyle (Q-Club Wicklow), perhaps smarting from his semi final defeat in the previous tournament, was clearly in no humour to tolerate anything like a repeat this time round, returning to his winning ways to take the fifth round of the series in emphatic style.
Hughes wins Senior Billiards 4
The fourth tournament of the Senior Billiards series was played at Celbridge Snooker Club on Sunday, 8th of January 2017, the format being best of three games of 150up. Eugene Hughes (Baltinglass) having opened his season in emphatic style, started the new year in similar fashion, taking all his matches, including the Final, without dropping a single game.
