Liam Wins U-16 Event 2 Ken Doherty Cup
It was another fantastic and nerve shattering day in Carlow for the Under 16 ranking event 2 and the Ken Doherty Cup. The quarter finals all proved to be absolute crackers. Joe Shannon had a 3-1 victory against an up and coming star of Irish snooker, Callum Wheatley. At 1-1 it was too close to call but Joe had the better of the safety exchanges and it proved to be the winning of the match for Joe as he saw it out 3-1. Callum is such a natural player and will only get better.
Ciaran wins Pat O’Sullivan Memorial
The Pat O’Sullivan Memorial handicap tournament was played at SBI Headquarters, Carlow on Sunday, 19th of October 2025. Although fewer in numbers than previous years, the event was non the less very enjoyable, all games being well contested and additionally, the shorter day meant an earlier start home for those who had distances to travel.
SBI Qualify 7 Junior Referees
SBI held its first Introduction to recruiting Junior Referees at Under 21 Tournament in SBI HQ in Carlow on Saturday 4th October 2025. Seven New referees were appointed Class 4 snooker referees by Neil Shanahan EBSA Tutor.
European Disability Championships Albania

Disability Day Event 1
The event on Sunday 5th of October was split into 2 sections and produced two well deserved winners in Dan Kelly and newcomer to the tour Darragh Mar.

Jamie Wins 21’s Tour Event 1
Jamie McCarthy from Crucible SC made the perfect start to the season when he won the first SBI 21’s Snooker Event of the season on Saturday 4th October in the SBI HQ in Carlow. In the final he beat Jack Becher from Classic SC in Dublin which was refereed by International Referee Neil Shanahan.
Snooker in Schools – Limerick Educate Secondary School
Snooker & Billiards Ireland held another Snooker in Schools project, on Thursday the 4th of October for students from Limerick Educate, Together Secondary School in Limerick . This grass roots development program main objective, is to help develop the interest of our sport within schools and to grow the game.

O’Donoghue win Seniors Event 1
On Sunday the 7th Sept, the 1st Senior’s over 40’s (Masters) tournament of the season was held in the SBI Academy. Due to the large entry, the event was finished on the 28th September.
